Deciding to write a book

 At the beginning of 2023 I got an idea for a book. I wrote down my idea and promptly did not do anything further. Then in November of 2023 I decided for once I am going to do something with a book idea and write a book. I decided that it will be a Fantasy book. It will not be a romantic fantasy or fantasy romance. It will be a fantasy thriller. 

I need to read a few more thrillers to make sure I understand what makes a good thriller. I want to write something that will keep me interested and which should keep other readers interested. I am learning that getting started is just the beginning of writing a book. There is so much to think about besides the beginning, middle and ending. I need to look at world building, character building, building a story line, building my knowledge on subjects that will help me build my story's world, characters and story. Finding out what makes a good story. Finding that I really do not know as much as I thought about writing. 

How I found out I was lacking in knowledge about writing a book was when I read an article about Cyber security that was on medium.com. I had to register to read the article and since I was there I wanted to learn more about the site. That is when I went not totally down the rabbit hole but enough to see the start of the warren. The reason I could not go down further was because you had to pay. I did not at that time. I did though start a subscription when they had a really good sale. Once I was able to see the articles that caught my eye I decided I was going to write a book. I had the idea and had started the opening scene.

As I found out I need a lot more than inspiration. I am now in the learning phase which is helping me flesh out the world where my story will be set. Also I am thinking I am going to need a lot of help with my characters. Making up names is fun but I need to really give them more than that. Writing this is helping me get in the habit to write when I can and to help me get some of my thoughts together for my book.
